How to request the refund of the security deposit in i-DE

When your electricity supply was activated or after a power increase, an amount was charged as a security deposit.

This deposit is linked to the contract signed for the supply point, it is paid only once and is refunded when it is no longer required.

With the entry into force of Royal Decree 88/2026, of 11 February, which approves the General Regulation on the supply, commercialisation and aggregation of electrical energy, distribution companies must refund these amounts to those who paid them at the time.

In the i-DE Private Area you can check whether you have a deposit associated with your contract.. 

To do so, go to: Contracts / Contract details / Supply point / Recognised rights.

You can request the refund if:

• You paid a security deposit at the time..
• You still have the right to recover it..

If your electricity contract is active, you do not need to request the refund, as it will be processed automatically through your retailer.

The fastest way is to do it through the Private Area of i-DE:

1. Access the Private Area with your user credentials.
2. Go to Management > Deposit refund.
3. Enter the IBAN of the bank account where you want to receive the amount.
4. Confirm the details. Once the information is verified, we will process the refund as soon as possible.

• Copy of your ID or valid identification document.
• Proof of ownership of the bank account.
• Contact phone number.
• Address of the supply point.
